BPM Magazine’s First Annual Solutions Satisfaction Survey Ranks Clarity Number One in Functionality
Survey repondents find Clarity Performance Management to have best functionality
TORONTO, ON (June 17, 2005) – Clarity Systems, a world leader in business intelligence (BI) and corporate performance management (CPM), announced today that BPM Magazine ranked Clarity Systems first amongst industry vendors for user satisfaction in software technology/functionality in its first annual Solutions Satisfaction Survey.
“Clarity Systems is thrilled to receive such high rankings from BPM Magazine’s survey respondents,” says Mark Nashman, president, Clarity Systems. “The results reinforce our mission at Clarity, which is to provide end-users with a cost-effective product that is highly functional and easy to implement and operate. Based on the tremendous response from our users, we’re clearly meeting our objective.”
The BPM Solutions Satisfaction Survey is not vendor sponsored and appears in the June, 2005 issue of BPM Magazine. The survey draws the conclusion that finance and IT professionals prefer software from established BPM vendors, like Clarity, as opposed to the alternatives. Users that have systems built in-house gave their BPM software very low rankings and appear at the bottom of the list, even lower than users that rely on Microsoft Excel, which also fairs poorly.
The survey also ranked corporate performance management vendors on ease of use/integration and cost of implementation. Since many of the survey respondents are using more than one piece of corporate performance management software, the survey asked about their overall solution, not individual pieces of the software. In this section Clarity ranks number five on a list of 20.
BPM Magazine’s Editor in Chief, Meg Waters, concludes the article by saying, “The performance management software marketplace is a rough-and-tumble world. But over the next few years, as BPM moves into smaller companies that have tighter budgets and less interest in being leading edge for the sake of being leading edge, vendors will have to provide systems that do more than upgrade decades-old legacy applications. That approach is akin to slapping a Band-Aid on a gaping wound. Performance management applications have a lot to offer, but to stay healthy as they mature, they need to begin delivering more value on clearer expectations.”

About the Survey
In late 2004, BPM magazine contacted a select group of subscribers who had previously identified themselves as having invested in budgeting, planning, and financial reporting systems; a total of 329 responded to this first annual Solutions Satisfaction Survey. Simultaneously, consulting firm BPM Partners was soliciting responses to its 2005 BPM Pulse Survey from readers of BPM, Business Finance, and DM Review; it received 212 valid responses. Both studies came to the same conclusion: Performance management software vendors are not meeting users' expectations as well as they should.
